WHAT IS BOTOX?
BOTOX™, Xeomin™, and Dysport are brand names of the botulinum toxin. These prescription medicines are injected into the muscle, weakening and relaxing overworked facial muscles that cause wrinkles. BOTOX™, Xeomin™, and Dysport are highly effective, safe, and approved by Health Canada and the FDA for cosmetic use.
HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR TREATMENT?
- 3 days prior to your treatment it is recommended you avoid blood thinning medications such as Advil, ASA, Omegas / Fish oils, Garlic, Vitamin E.
- Please avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment. This will thin your blood making you more prone to bruising. Do not worry, if you have a glass of wine the night before it’s okay. You are just more likely to bruise.
- Have some pineapple! Pineapple juice can also help break down the by products of hemoglobin in your blood and minimize visible bruising.
- Please have a good breakfast or a snack before your appointment!
WHAT DOES POST-TREATMENT OF BOTOX LOOK LIKE?
- Do not lay down for 4 hours after your injections.
- No strenuous exercise or activities involving heat / sauna / tanning beds within four hours.
- Avoid rubbing / touching the treated area for 48 hours.
- It’s recommended you do not apply make up after your injections as we don’t want any bacteria going into the needle holes.
- In the first 48 hours, do not receive a facial or microdermabrasion treatment.
- Try to avoid long periods of bending over as the Botulinum Toxin can possibly migrate to the elevating muscle of your upper eyelid causing a lid drop.
- Small red spots or bumps might be visible on the skin after the injections and there can be minor bruising. While bruising is rare, if you are a person who bruises easily, you may expect to see some minor bruising around the injection sites. Bruises may last a few days, and will fade quickly.
- If you are concerned with bruising, we recommend the topical application of Arnica from your local pharmacy. Applying lightweight cold compress or ice to the treated area for a few minutes after treatment may help to resolve red spots or bruises.
- Some patients might experience a mild headache after receiving Botox.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE BOTOX RESULTS?
It takes between 3-14 days to see the FULL result of your Botox treatment to be fully realized. At times, results may look slightly uneven at first, as the Botulinum Toxin may “kick in” at different durations for different people.
WHAT IS A LIP FLIP?
A lip flip is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure that can help people achieve a fuller upper lip without dermal filler. The procedure involves Botox injections into your upper lip to relax the muscles and “flip” your lip upward. It is a less expensive option than a dermal filler because it uses very few units of Botox.
HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY FILLER APPOINTMENT?
- 3 days prior to your treatment it is recommended you avoid blood thinning medications such as Advil, ASA, Omegas / Fish oils, Garlic, Vitamin E.
- Please avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment. This will thin your blood making you more prone to bruising. Do not worry, if you have a glass of wine the night before it is okay. You are just more likely to bruise.
- Have some pineapple! Pineapple juice can also help break down the by-products of hemoglobin in your blood and minimize visible bruising.
- Please have a good breakfast or snack before your appointment!
WHAT DOES POST-TREATMENT LOOK LIKE AFTER A FILLER APPOINTMENT?
- Immediately after the treatment, there may be redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, and/or itching near the injection site. This is normal and generally disappears within a few hours to a few days.
- Keep drinking lots of water for the next 2 weeks.
- Avoid drinking alcohol after your appointment. This can cause more bruising.
- Try to ice on and off for the first 24-48 hours to help with swelling. Do not apply pressure with the ice pack.
- If you got lip filler, NO heavy kissing.
- No strenuous activities or activities involving heat / tanning beds for 24 hours.
- Avoid extreme cold.
- Avoid rubbing / touching the treated area for 48 hours.
- Try not to apply pressure to treated areas. If you got cheek filler, try to sleep on your back.
- It is recommended you do not apply make up after your injections as we don’t want any bacteria going into the needle holes.
- Do not receive a facial or microdermabrasion treatment for 2 weeks.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS FROM MY FILLER APPOINTMENT?
Please allow 14 days to realize the full result of this treatment. Swelling typically takes a minimum of 14 to 28 days to dissipate and it takes up to 14 days for the water in your body to pull and connect with the Hyaluronic Acid and create total volume.
Minimize movement of the treated area however, if there is a visible bump, you can massage the area. The product will soften into the skin naturally within a few days.
The results of dermal fillers are best with regular & continued treatments over time. Be sure to schedule your next visit within 6 months for optimal and continuous results.
Be sure to wear sunscreen daily to protect your skin & help prevent future wrinkles / volume loss by drinking plenty of water!
WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS AND RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Carbon Peels are recommended every 2-3 weeks to achieve optimal results. This time frame allows for the regeneration of collagen and elastin within your skin tissue. Immediate results after the first treatment include the overall brightening of your skin and will continue to progress throughout and following subsequent treatments.
You can expect slight sensitivity for the first 3 days and possible dryness or mild flaking at days 4-5. After 1-2 weeks the skin will feel smoother and more even and bright. It is vital that you use sun protection to prevent damage to new skin cells after your Carbon Peel.
